THE FOOL IN HIS FOLLY

The beginning of wisdom

Is the fear of the Lord,

With a reverence and respect

For His holy sacred word.

But the fool says in his heart

’There is no God’ indeed,

Where he sustains unrighteous works

With corrupt motives and deeds.

Although there is none righteous

When we believe and fear God,

His mercy will grant us repentance

So we’ve covered in His abode.

The foolish continue in their folly

And have no regard for others,

But walk in self-righteous ways

And by deception they are covered.

Because when mammon is their god

They cannot serve two masters,

And will reject God Almighty

When it’s money and status they are after.

The foolish believe that those of faith

Are the actual fools indeed;

Where intelligence is fully absent…

But God’s wrath is all they’ll see.

When the foolish walk in confidence

They are steeped in hypocrisy,

Because there is no true purpose

If there’s no faith in eternity.

What would be the point

Of this vapour in the wind,

If our lives are only earth bound

Where there is no hope and faith within?

The Lord is angry with the wicked

Every single day,

And His wrath extends for eternity

For those whose sins remain.

The fool will reject God…

Although the clay cannot dictate,

To the Potter in any shape or form

Since the Potter holds its fate.

The fool in his folly

Is doing his soul injustice indeed,

Preferring to please people rather than God

But where judgement he will see.

The fact we’re created so brilliantly

Is a testament that God is real,

And that there is hope for the fool

When from his folly he is healed.

Eternity is forever

And God’s justice will prevail,

Repent and trust in Jesus;

In the One who wore the nails.

Because it was no trivial matter

For God to sacrifice His Son,

But His love for us exceeded all

And gave His only Anointed One.

A LOVE LETTER

It’s a timeless and best seller

A love letter from the heart;

Written by various prophets and disciples

Through God’s inspiration and set apart.

The theme is God’s undying love

Throughout every single book,

As it exposes all evil with its consequence

And Christ’s sacrifice that it took.

Love is patient and long suffering

And much deeper than we know,

But we tend to romanticise

And conjure up ideas as we go.

Love is kind and gentle too

And in evil it never rejoices,

But it leads to deliverance and total healing

So we’re encouraged to make wise choices.

God’s Word is love personified

As it points to life eternal,

Through the wonderful Prince of Peace our Jesus

Who transforms our heart internal.

This love letter should be cherished

And stored in our chest of drawers,

In our bosom and held so tightly indeed

As it convicts us of our flaws.

Love exposes yet it expresses

The most beautiful of life’s gifts;

It reveals the depth of a person’s heart

And all falseness it will sift.

To desire the best interests of others

Is a beautiful heartfelt blessing,

And God’s Word will transform our soul

Which is truly worthwhile investing.

The most precious letters ever written

Are comprised in the Holy Bible;

Revealing purity and purging evil;

Truly it’s unrivalled.

It points to the necessity

To appease God’s wrath of our sin,

And the most precious gift is Jesus indeed

So our soul is cleansed within.

No other letter will convict us of sin

But God’s Word does so with love,

It reveals the depths of God’s pure motives;

It’s a masterpiece inspired from above.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16

“Love suffers long and is kind; loves does not envy, love does not parade itself, is not puffed up, does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government shall be upon His shoulders. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” Song of Solomon 2:14

WHEN WE SEEK…

When we seek…

What or whom do we desire?

Are we seeking all the blessings

Or is it God’s heart that we admire?

When we seek…

Are we seeking joy and peace?

Do we only ask God for favor

And our troubles to release?

When the ‘effect’ comes before the ‘cause’

We’ve missed a fundamental fact,

When we ask amiss for our pleasures

So they can take full effect.

Our fleshly nature seeks comfort;

To take the easy path in life,

Where a little prayer is whispered

And we believe this will suffice.

But the battle is much stronger

In the spiritual realm indeed,

Where we need God’s protection

And for Him to intercede.

When we seek…

For money, success and/or fame,

We’re trapped in the worldly ways

Where disappointment can remain.

When we seek…

Materialism and all its ways,

And to boast to our neighbour

No true peace will remain.

When we seek…

Our own glory and our credit,

We make a god of ourselves

But where our soul remains in debit.

But when we seek…

Wisdom and humility,

God’s grace will surely cover us

And His mercy we will see.

When we seek God’s heart;

To be still and know He is,

Our direction will be steered

Where all the glory will be His.

Because we’re always after the blessings;

It’s just a natural thing to do,

But God’s treasure is much deeper

That He reveals to only few.

Only few do seek His face

And His will for their lives,

Because it’s so easy to be steeped

In idolatry and lies.

When we seek…

What do we really desire?

Is it God or His blessings

And deep down whom do we admire?

“Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! SOVEREIGNTY

His beauty and His majesty

Will never be compared;

He loves justice and all righteousness

And His presence is everywhere.

It’s by the word of His mouth

That all things are established,

Filled with the goodness of the Lord

As we stand in awe indeed.

By His power and His might

He gathers the waters of the sea,

Where an abundance of life dwells within

In which He has decreed.

Sovereign in His total control

And by His grace we’re granted breath,

As we arise each and every morning

Where His mercies are new and fresh.

His word is always right

Where no confusion will exist,

Because it’s with authority and it’s absolute

And no detail He has missed.

We may wonder why the wicked prosper

But there’s a reversal of fortunes indeed,

Where the righteous enter into eternal life

Whilst the wicked death will see.

But He is patient and is loving

Not willing that any should perish,

But that all come to repentance

And His ways we love and cherish.

It’s only by His grace and strength

That kingdoms are subdued,

Because no king is ever saved by his army

Or delivered from his own strength too.

The Lord sees from heaven;

His eye is on those who fear Him,

Who hope in His mercy

To be delivered from their sin.

REST FOR OUR SOUL

A refuge and a blanket of peace

Is Your tender touch and love,

As it envelops the borders of our soul;

Pure and sweet from above.

There is rest for our soul

When we trust in Your holy name,

Knowing You will provide and lift us up

And heal us of our pain.

It’s Your promises to those

Who fear You with respect,

With a reverence for Your holiness

Knowing You do what is best.

True rest resigns from strivings;

From grasping for the wind,

From vanity of vanities

Where much frustration this can bring.

Only Jesus gives true peace

But do we sincerely believe,

That He will calm our turbulent waves

So genuine rest we finally see?

True rest is a promise;

It’s provision for our soul,

It will nurture and it will protect

And sincere peace will be its goal.

True rest for our soul

Is when we have been redeemed,

Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Where true peace and joy is seen.

OUT OF NOTHING

Nothing ever comes from nothing

Since nothing possibly could,

Since nothing had nothing in the beginning

Whereby nothing ever should.

Nothing can give birth to anything

Since there’s nothing to commence,

With no thing or plan in place

Since nothing will make sense.

If there’s nothing in eternity

Then nothing would eventuate,

Since there’s nothing that could accelerate

At any given rate.

If there’s nothing there at all

Then nothing would ever make true sense,

Because it’s impossible that nothing

Could multiply to some extent.

An explosion can never cause harmony

Because there are specific laws,

And if we believe the contrary

Perhaps our logic does have flaws?

God was in the beginning

Always is and always will be,

With a logical plan and a purpose

And with a hope that we can see.

It’s by His spoken word

And His supernatural touch,

That everything has come to be

And created perfectly as such.

When we create or build

It’s always with a plan in mind,

Where there’s a sequence and there’s logic

And where solutions we do find.

A skilled craftsman has something

To already begin the task,

And a skyscraper was designed and built

With its signature and mark.

So, everything comes from something

Always has and always will,

As we thank God for His brilliance

And the love that He has instilled.

AT THE ROOTS

We know the satisfying feeling

When we pull weeds at their roots,

Knowing there’s no more growth in that region

That refuses to produce good fruit.

It’s a wonderful sensation

When the entirety is removed,

To make room for greener pastures

So the landscape is improved.

But when the root system remains

We can get frustrated indeed,

As we sincerely try to remove the fragment

At its very seed.

And when they’re not entirely plucked

We know they will reappear,

So it’s necessary to dig a little deeper

So they will disappear.

Because weeds are unproductive

They sprout but aren’t required,

Causing a nuisance, if anything

And eventually thrown into the fire.

Like the tares amidst the wheat

They look identical indeed,

But the tares are a deception

And not grown from good seed.

Similarly when God uproots our sins;

Those weeds amidst our soul,

He untangles all those tentacles

That took a deep and firm stronghold.

He removes the splinters from our spirit

As we’re refreshed and are renewed,

When He plants His law upon our heart

With everything that’s true.

Because when the root system is deep

More troubles our soul can see,

When it’s ingrained in total darkness

Where the light it cannot see.

At the roots the weeds are pulled

So we’re finally set free,

And no longer soiled

When the powers of darkness flee.

But when we’re rooted and built in Him

We abound in thanksgiving,

And firmly established in the faith

That’s organic and is living.

At the roots is where the hand

Of God’s grace decides to be,

Where we flourish with the new birth

So eternal life we see.

“I am the root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”  Revelation 22:16

FALSE TEACHERS

They’ll only ever show you

What they want you to only see,

Where there’s a monumental cover up

That’s driven by vanity.

They will only reveal

What your ears want to hear,

With whatever tickles them

In a direction they will steer.

Their smiles are fake

Where there’s a hidden agenda too,

To promote their lies and heresy

With all they say and do.

They will definitely mislead

And they will make you go astray,

With every false doctrine

Or with any suggestions made.

They appear beautiful externally

But inside are filled with greed,

They’re white washed tombs filled with dead men’s bones

But as angels appear to be.

Because their message will appear

To be genuine indeed,

But unless we use discernment

It will plant wrong types of seed.

They are like a hireling

Not concerned for the sheep,

And focused on money and status instead

And deceive those who are asleep.

Because they’re not focused on the cross

Or the blood shed at Calvary,

They never mention sin

Or a hell for eternity.

They think they’re right with a holy God

And that they’re truly covered by grace,

But deception is their blanket

As they refuse to run the race.

They don’t speak with humility

Where there’s proof they have been broken,

But rely on charm and their prosperity

With every word that’s spoken.

False teachers are everywhere

And unless God’s word is the standard,

There will be philosophy and deceit

Where His truth is tampered.

But the true shepherd shares the gospel

And is not afraid of same,

But will lovingly warn with sincere love

So deception will not remain.

Unless repentance does take place

There are consequences for eternity,

Because true remorse will produce good fruit

That will be heard and seen.

It’s time to get right with God

As the days draw to a close,

And no more games or pretences

Because God truly sees and knows!

(C) P.B. 2021

“But all their works they do to be seen by men.”  Matthew 23:5

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!  For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.  Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”  Matthew 23:27-28

“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”  2 Corinthians 11:14

“But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.  The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.”  John 10:12-13

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”  2 Timothy 4:3-4

“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.”  Colossians 2:8

“Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.  And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.  But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”  Matthew 24:11

“My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.  ‘I and my Father are one.’”  John 10:29-30

LIKE A LEANING WALL

Like a leaning wall and tottering fence

Is a soul that’s filled with lies;

Where deceit will pour and will be dispensed

To cast down those who will rise.

But it’s on the verge of collapse

When it’s not built on the rock;

It has no true cornerstone

And can fall with a mere knock.

A leaning wall is no comfort at all

With a shaky foundation indeed;

Unstable and unreliable

It’s like a soul that can’t be free.

Likewise is the mouth that will bless

But inwardly it will curse;

That delights in every secret lie

Where corruption it will birth.

When it slanders with the lips

And attacks in every way,

It’s like a leaning wall and tottering fence;

A soul that’s gone astray.

Like a spider’s web and a dead end route

Is the expectation of those who hate,

Like a tottering fence and a leaning wall

When envy and greed do mate.

But those who wait upon the Lord

Will not be shaken or moved,

When He’s our rock, our refuge and our defense

And where we are truly loved.

Our defense and our deliverer

Who consumes our enemies;

All those who rise against us

And our downfall hope to see.

The Lord of our salvation

Where our expectation is from Him;

Our strength and dear refuge

Who will calm our soul within.

(C) P.B. 2021

“My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.”  Psalm 62:5

“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret – it only causes harm.”  Psalm 37:7-8

“For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.”  Psalm 37:9

“So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the hypocrite shall perish, whose confidence shall be cut off, and whose trust is a spider’s web.  He leans on his house, but it does not stand. He holds it fast, but it does not endure.”  Job 8:13-15

SHOWMANSHIP

There’s a beauty in all excellence

When it’s sincere from the heart;

Conducted with all diligence

With correct motives from the start.

We’re created to achieve much good

To be a blessing in all we do,

But sadly many times it’s obscured

When our desires are not true.

It’s the love of money and endless pursuits

That’s a stumbling block and snare,

When the focus is on mammon and status

And all the worldly cares.

It’s the covetousness and greedy spirit

Of wanting to have the best;

It’s that endless and insatiable appetite

That leaves no room for rest.

There’s no need to be jealous of others

Since this will bring unrest,

With a host of undesirable feelings

As we’re rendered disabled to do our best.

The Lord Jesus was never a showman

And his example was inspiring;

He focused on eternal treasures

And was never left desiring.

Let’s be content with all we have

As the spiritual wealth is what matters,

All else will perish on judgement day

Leaving our soul in tatters.

There’s a reason that a manger was used

To rest the King of kings,

Depicting His humble nature so pure

Where true joy and peace this brings.

Our pursuits should give the glory to God

As all things belong to Him,

As we repent sincerely and humble ourselves

So our soul is cleansed within.
