FAITH

It’s the substance of things hoped for

The evidence of things not seen;

It is knowing there is a solution

When there’s no doubt in between.

It is expedient in all situations

As it requires abundance of hope;

It eliminates all types of fear

With a trusted ability to cope.

It’s an assurance as we progress every day

To our final place;

With God’s promises stamped in our heart

As we expect His arms to embrace.

At times we’re tempted to doubt

But we’re drawn to overcome;

As we submit all to the Lord

And in repentance we succumb.

As we earn eternal rewards

Through obedience to our Heavenly Father;

We try to walk with reverence and love

Knowing there is a here-after.

Let’s all edify and encourage each other

Knowing a righteous crown awaits,

As we fight the good fight till the end

Since our goal is to enter His gates.

(C) P.B. 2017

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6

FORGIVE

A grudge is simply not worth

Losing our eternal security,

And when an argument is harbored in our heart

It will never set us free.

It is our natural propensity

To return evil for evil,

But God says “Vengeance is Mine”

As we listen to Him and not the devil.

Our pride is always defensive

When we believe our way is right,

But we’re instructed to forgive seventy times seven

As we humbly surrender the fight.

The Lord will fight our battles

When we ask for His forgiveness;

With pure motives to restore all things

As we rebuke all bitterness.

We are commanded to forgive

If we’re to receive forgiveness indeed;

Knowing that hatred, envy and murder

Through unforgiveness will always breed.

And to murder is simply to hate

Since the intention is in the heart,

When we harbor ill feelings and malice

To create chaos and to tear apart.

Forgiveness releases the shackles

That keep us forever bound;

It refreshes our soul with a brand new start

And where liberty can be found.

Forgiveness is a decision

And will always set us free;

As it releases both from bondage

When possible restoration we can see.

Although we may never forget

And be much wiser next time around,

When there’s no need to regurgitate

We know peace our soul has found.

ENDLESS PURSUIT

There’s an endless pursuit for our heart

Although we’re outside His will,

And walking in disobedience

In pursuit for our void to fill.

We will attempt to fill that hole

With everything other than Him;

Which explains our hurried lifestyles

With the many stressors this brings.

But His love is overwhelming

And will prompt us to draw near;

As He eradicates our hopelessness

With every anxiety and every fear.

It’s an endless pursuit for our soul

Although He’s sovereign indeed;

He understands our stubborn ways

And how desperately Him we need.

When there’s a stirring in our soul

Most times we want to escape,

But it’s His loving correction and His conviction

Designed for our own sake.

He will never enforce His ways

But will allow our circumstance,

To make us think and to analyse

About the reality of our stance.

When we’re cornered we have an option

To surrender or go our own way,

But if we fail to be reconciled to Him

There’s an eternal price to pay.

He’s the initiator

Of all spiritual pursuits,

And we’re created for His glory

To seek Him and to bear fruit.

The endless pursuit always emanates

From His loving and generous heart;

As He reminds us to be separate

And from societal lies be set apart.

He pursues us relentlessly

But it’s for our own good indeed.

And we cannot escape from reality

That His saving hand we need.

Like a bridegroom awaiting his bride

His pure affections are displayed,

With a commitment and a vow

That is sacred once it’s made.

Everywhere we look

We see God’s attributes in sight;

His wonderful creation

And the beauty of His light.

The endless pursuit is sacred

Undeserved but a gift of grace;

With His mercy that is intertwined

Extended to the entire race.

Because excuses will not be tolerated

Since every trial and every pain,

Has a purpose to draw us near

When our heart is softened and changed.

All things have a purpose

And although we suffer in different ways,

His endless pursuit should encourage us

Through His perfect plan displayed.

YOU RAISE US UP

There’s nothing that is impossible

With Your righteous pure right hand,

After all You’ve spanned the universe

That’s forever at Your command.

Our situation and circumstances

Are never out of Your reach,

And although our patience may wear thin

There’s many lessons You want to teach.

You lift and raise us up indeed

From the valleys that are deep,

And You train us to keep our eyes on You

So faith and hope we keep.

There’s no situation out of Your control

And the most finite detail You know,

You’re aware of all that’s in our heart

With a knowledge You can’t forego.

You raise us up to climb each mountain

And every difficult terrain,

To swim the deepest of all waters

Where our reliance on You remains.

You raise us up to honour You

Since there’s absolutely no way,

That we do so on our own accord

Knowing there’s a price to pay.

A price to carry our own cross

But it’s a burden that we share,

When we trust in You to deliver us

With Your tender love and care.

You raise us up to give us hope

And we trust You’re always there,

You’re our precious Lord and Savior

And at the cross our burdens You bear.

“and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:6

THE FACE OF WISDOM

Wisdom has a lovely face

Reflects all things good and pure…

Has a heart which is refreshing

With much patience to endure.

It’s always fair, full of justice

And never seeks its own;

It rehearses every line of speech

From pure seed it’s grown.

It’s timeless and so precious

And it’s sought by everyone;

Its desire is forever

It is defined in God’s own Son.

Our Jesus He is wisdom

Engraved deep in our heart;

To refine and make us wise

A rare gem, a work of art.

(C) P.B. 2004

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”  Proverbs 9:10

MY RESCUER

Wherever there is sunshine

Your smile is always near,

I only need to trust You

To wipe away my tear.

You’re my knight in shining armour

You have a rescue plan;

To protect and shield from danger

As You stretch forth Your strong hand.

All my trials You record

And with my pain You empathise;

As You renovate my mind

I have a set of brand new eyes.

As I wait for Your sweet rainbow

With much patience and much love;

You will guard my heart and mind

And commence healing from above.

(C) P.B. 2004

“He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble – I will deliver him and honour him.”  Psalm 91:15

RECONSTRUCT MY LOVE

As an open letter in Your sight

So vulnerable and naked

In awesome fear of Your might

So holy and so sacred

A broken heart so bruised and fragile

From betrayal in the past

It requires Your tender touch

So any bitterness won’t last

Reconstruct my moral fibres

So this heart begins to love

And forgive all ignorance

Pour Your mercy from above

As my heartbeat is awakened

With a blessed refreshing start

I will love with much compassion

With a kindness set apart.

(C) P.B. 2004

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”  Psalm 51:10

MY FRIEND JESUS

My dearest and beloved friend

How wonderful Your ways;

How sweet and kind Your fellowship

Which fulfils my living days.

The manner of Your touch divine

It radiates my soul;

Your warm and gentle smile

My life’s in Your control.

A sincere heart is Yours so rare

Your goodness is a gem;

We place our entire faith in You

As we touch Your garment’s hem.

As You wipe all our impurities

God’s handiwork is done;

You’re our best and fairest friend

You’re Jesus, God’s own Son.

(C) P.B. 2004

“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”  John 15:15

THE ORPHAN

A face so full of sorrow

As it’s soaked with many tears;

A soul without much hope

Merely existing throughout the years.

Not knowing love and comfort

Or having seen his father’s face;

Not feeling his deep love

Or his mother’s warm embrace.

If we never trust in God

We are orphans through and through;

As He’s our Father in heaven

Who created me and you.

As we ask for His forgiveness

And be reconciled to Him;

His heart gently adopts us

As we have eternal life within.

(C) P.B. 2005

“…for He dwells with you and will be in you.  I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:17-18

CULTIVATE MY LOVE

Cultivate my love O’ Lord

With Thy outstretched hand;

Reveal the heart of heaven

As You come to heal this land.

Forgive all my trespasses

As I surrender all my heart;

The washing from Your word

Will promote a brand new start.

As I bow a humble knee

I feel Your sovereign grace;

And the sweet smell of Your fragrance

Plants a smile on my face.
