ONE LAST BREATH

Pretend you had a short time

Only a breath left here on earth…

How would your final hours be spent

Would you wish to be rebirthed?

The memories would linger long

As your life was just a vapour;

The vanity and pleasures spent

Like ink erased from paper.

Your thoughts were incorruptible

As you relied on your own strength;

The material gain which ruled your life

Your days it cut at length.

Your soul was crying out for truth

As your busy days increased;

Your life came with a warranty

As your days on earth were leased.

And now you finally realised

That your life was never yours,

As the spirit of deception

Had opened the wrong doors.

And left your life in misery

As true peace was far away;

You searched for treasure on this earth

And forgot to kneel and pray.

But in your final waking hours

God gently whispers in your heart,

And is making one soft final plea

Your soul to be set apart.

To forget the nature of this world

And the sin which governs it;

To commit your life to Jesus Christ

As the jigsaw pieces fit.

So when the final breath arrives

In your heart and soul you’re sure…

That heaven’s gate awaits your name

In eternity forevermore.

CONTINUED WITH LIFE

I remember once hearing the truth

Yet my heart so proud it resisted;

Continued with life, was so busy

My name in “The Book” was not listed.

Not listed to enter heaven

To spend it with God everafter;

Was blinded, so wretched and lost

Continued with life and its laughter.

The world and all its temptations

In sin I lived and enjoyed;

My feet were walking to hell

And my soul with fire it toyed.

But the light it shone in my heart

And exposed all humanity’s sin;

My mind so shocked to discover

My soul was so empty within.

So glad that I finally discovered

That Jesus had paid for my life;

The blood which was shed on the cross

All my darkness was cut with a knife.

No longer I long for man’s wisdom

Or acceptance and philosophical ways;

I look to the truth of eternity

To secure my heavenly days.

“..because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.”  Hebrews 8:9

GAMBLER

Are you gambling with eternal life

As your views seem to be right?

You retain your proud and selfish ways

The results are dark as night…

And as the dice is rolled

Your attitudes are revealed;

As the devil deals your cards

Your eternity he has sealed.

Surrender all, submit to God

For your entire life to change;

To discover true fulfilment

Which God can easily arrange.

As the casino in your heart

Becomes bankrupt once for all…

You surrender all your cards

As you hear the voice of God’s call.

As an exchange takes place indeed

And your heart accepts the light;

You wonder why it took so long

For your soul you’ve learnt to fight.

Our God is always perfect

And negates dark evil ways;

It is our own personal choice

To make a decision every day.

Either we make satan our master

By continuing to serve ourselves…

Or to follow God Almighty

For Him in our heart to dwell.

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 16:25

PRAYER

Why do we find it difficult

To submit our hearts in prayer;

To cast all our burdens to the Lord

Knowing that we’re in good care?

We are busy most the time

And the flesh is just too weak,

To bow our knees on humble ground

To submit to God, be meek.

But the battle is always won

When we pray with all of our heart,

And express all the yearnings

From our soul, our deepest part.

And the fiery darts are conquered

As the sweet aroma rises,

Of our deep expression to Jesus

To receive blessings full of surprises.

(C) P.B. 2002

“..but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6

GROWTH

As God gently stirs our nests

To encourage growth within…

We leave our comfort zones

And for God’s kingdom souls we win.

Growth can be a painful task

As it challenges our mind,

But once we learn to obey and move

We leave our past behind.

As we follow God’s commands

We grow in grace and love;

To increase our knowledge of Christ

And God’s will from heaven above.

As the mamma eagle stirs her nest

To encourage flying lessons;

Her young cry out in pain once more

Until they endure many sessions.

And once they learn to fly with ease

And leave their comfort nest;

They are thankful for the challenge which

Taught them to express their best.

We take creation’s example to see

As we train our heart and soul;

That all growth requires effort

For true blessings to unfold.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  2 Peter 3:18

OUR SAVIOR

More than a carpenter our Lord

As a man He walked the earth;

He opened the gates of Heaven

As our spirit man was rebirthed.

He cast out demons healed the sick

And preached the gospel of the Father;

To pierce our hearts with this truth

And spend eternity with Thee ever after.

Was crushed for our iniquities

And wounded for our transgressions;

All through an abundance of love

For humanity He showed us many lessons.

Was despised and rejected by most

Our punishment and pain He bore;

A man of sorrows acquainted with grief

Was crucified then raised forevermore.

Search for the truth and know for sure

Discover the meaning of life on earth;

Welcome salvation through the blood of Christ

And HIs precious sacrifice of priceless worth.

CHANGE MY HEART DEAR LORD

Teach me the depths of Your liking

As my soul yearns for much more;

The groaning and pain as it searches

Your treasures in us which you store.

Reveal to me all of Your secrets

Your eternal mysteries in life;

Unveil my heart and show me its shape

The hidden anger, the deceit and strife.

I pray You replace it my dear Lord

With the wonderful touch of Your hand;

With Your precious healing power

As the waves that stroke the sand.

And I ask You repair it afresh

Like a child so tender and true,

And I pray You make it a promise

To forever be faithful to You.

To love You dearly my Lord

With gentle kindness and peace,

And seal it with Your signature

Your warm embrace and loving bliss.

How sure and secure I’ll feel

When I arise one day to see,

The change I’ve yearned for in years

A brand new heart has been given to me.

“And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.”  Deuteronomy 30:6

A GLIMPSE OF HEAVEN

Gold with onyx and diamonds

Suspended high in the skies;

As heaven awaits to see you

The moment you open your eyes.

The eyes of your precious soul

As the treasures are revealed from above;

The colour of gems and crystals

The clarity so full of God’s love.

Your spirit is alive with awakening

As the beryl stone warms your heart;

The angels and scenes around you

Are purely a work of art.

The surrounds are lined with beauty

And the purple cloths pure as silk;

The resting place of eternity

So pure and white as milk.

The stamp that was paid for your soul

As you accepted the Savior on earth;

It sealed your entry to heaven

Commencing your spiritual birth.

Your repentance was so important

To gain heavenly treasures stored;

As the rainbow and all of creation

Are revealed in your heart evermore.

The hand of God suspended

In the heavenly realm so true;

His gentle and pure touch

As His nature is revealed in you.

(C) P.B. 2002

“And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God.  Her light was like a most precious stone.  Like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.”  Revelation 21:10-11

DEPARTURE

When the day to depart arrives

And such sorrow it leaves behind;

The mood is melancholy

So hard the right words to find.

It brings to memory all the times

Of joy their smile brought;

The endurance in their character

In which hard times they fought.

And their generous and loving ways

Will always remain in your heart;

With all the good times shared

Will be treasured now that you’re apart.

But hope will always sustain

This desire to meet once again;

As your faith removes the sting

Of eternal separation and pain.

Let’s hope they met the Lord

Before they departed this earth;

Surrendered their heart unto Jesus

And accepted His sacrifice of worth.

And this is how you’ll know

You will meet again one day,

And enjoy heaven’s beauty forever

And the purity of Jesus’ ways.

BIRTH

As a perfect design skilfully drawn

The artist so perfect indeed;

His sketch board so delicate and intricate

As He begins with just one seed.

He adds His paint full of colour

As He draws each feature with love;

The brain He draws with a squiggle

With His powerful hand from above.

And all features are coated with honey

As they develop gently over time;

He seals our heart with a tender kiss

And a beautiful nursery rhyme.

And as the exodus occurs

We grasp for air we cry,

And into a flower we develop and grow

And kiss our past goodbye.

We’re reminded gently over time

Our wonderful creator with love,

And commit our lives to God indeed

To spend eternity above.
