IT REALLY WILL NOT MATTER

It really will not matter

At the end of the day,

Whether we believed in what we did

But whether God was obeyed.

It really will not matter

If we wore the finest clothes,

Because unless we were clothed in humility

Our nakedness was exposed.

It really will not matter

If we had expensive cars,

Because unless we were driven towards holiness

We could not travel very far.

It really will not matter

Whether our home was furnished well,

Because unless Christ was our covering

God’s judgement this has spelled.

It really will not matter

Whether we dined with the best,

Because unless we consumed and digested God’s word

There couldn’t be true rest.

It really will not matter

Whether externals were correct,

Because God looks at the heart

And knows which idols we did erect.

It really will not matter

Whether all arguments were won,

Because when we were on our deathbed

They were all vanity – one by one.

And it really will not matter

If we professed to follow indeed,

Because true humility and holiness

Was found when on our knees.

God’s word is pure and blameless

And unless we honoured same,

All the millions and the finest things

Were all worshipped in much vain.

It really will not matter

Whether we were god inside our heart,

Because the day has surely come

Where our delusions fell apart.

And it really will not matter

Whether Goliaths became our strength,

Because it’s our pebbles that made mountains fall

When His Spirit dwelled inside our tent.

But what will really matter

Is whether Jesus had set us free,

By being our Lord and Savior

For all of eternity.

THAT BEAUTIFUL MOMENT…

That profound and beautiful moment

When the heart has awakened indeed,

When the scales fall from our eyes

And God’s truth we start to see.

That beautiful moment

When being enlightened enters our eyes,

With the hope of His calling

And with the spirit to make us wise.

That beautiful moment

When life becomes sacred indeed,

Having had a deeper revelation

That God’s mercy we all need.

That wonderful moment

As we’re remorseful from the heart,

Having understood we’ve offended a holy God

And now time for a brand new start.

That important moment

When our heart is truly exposed,

But where repentance occurs and healing begins

And we reap what we will sow.

That beautiful moment

When we’re humbled on our knees,

As we come to realise God’s majesty

And life for eternity.

That sweet and beautiful moment

When the Holy Spirit is received,

As the battles are won in the spirit realm

And victories we see.

That wonderful moment

When all our religiosity,

Along with all our philosophies

Depart to set us free.

That beautiful lovely moment

When the heart with love it floods,

To be sincerely kind and to wish no harm

As we serve with grace and love.

And the most beautiful of moments

Is when we see God face to face,

Having received Jesus as Lord and Savior

And saved solely by His grace.

WHEN WE TRUST…

When we trust in ourselves

And in our capabilities,

There’s only so far that we can go

When breakthroughs we do see.

When we place trust in our careers

And in our finances too,

We can be thoroughly disappointed

When everything falls through.

When we place trust in certain people

And although they may wish well,

There may come a time they’ll disappoint

And heartache this may spell.

Because when we lean on the flesh

With our independence too,

We can become proud of our achievements

And exclude God from all we do.

But there may come a time

Where our world comes crashing down,

Where there’s monumental loss

And where friends are nowhere to be found.

But when we trust in God

And convey our heart to Him,

There is safety and there’s surety

With a joy and peace within.

Because He will never forsake us

Or disappoint us too,

But will work all things for our good

To guide in all we do.

When we trust in Jesus

We honour the sacrifice He made;

Whilst remembering the depth of His love

When His life for us He gave.

To trust in God is honourable

Since He is our Heavenly Father;

Our comforter and our deliverer

For now and ever-after.

“For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”  Hebrews 13:5

IN THE BEGINNING…

In the beginning there had to be

Someone in order to bring,

All that we know and see and hear

Along with everything.

Because nothing can come from nothing

It’s truly impossible if it did,

With such spectacular detail in its design

And much wonder in our midst.

In the beginning was God Himself

Who forever did exist;

The Alpha and the Omega

Where life in us He kissed.

He blessed us with His beauty

When He created Adam and Eve,

But they chose to believe that snake instead

And both were grossly deceived.

The beginning of our fallen nature

Commenced on that very same day,

When authority was stamped upon our flesh

Through Satan and his ways.

They truly did have everything;

All the beauty one could desire,

But they still were not satisfied

And listened to that liar.

All evil and all calamity

Has bred ever since that day,

Because when God is not obeyed

There’s a heavy price to pay.

And the wages of sin is death

Hence we all will eventually die,

But through God’s grace and mercy

Is the gift of eternal life.

Thank God that Jesus Christ

Was appointed to die on the cross,

To reconcile us to the Father

To redeem all that was lost.

Those that repent and trust in Him

Are resurrected and made new,

Where eternal life awaits

In God’s kingdom pure and true.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  Genesis 1:1

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen…”. Romans 1:20

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”  Genesis 2:7

“Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die…So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate.  She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”  Genesis 3:5-6

“And no wonder!  For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”  2 Corinthians 11:14

“Therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.  So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.”  Genesis 3:23-24

“And so it is written, ‘The first man Adam became a living being.  The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.’”  1 Corinthians 15:45

“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned…For if by one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.”  Romans 5:12-15

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”  Revelation 22:13

EXCUSES

When we make excuses

To justify our sin,

Effectively we’re denying God’s power

And will not overcome within.

Because although no-one is perfect

There’s a maturity to attain,

When we desire a life of holiness

With ourselves only to blame.

It’s so easy to point the finger;

To look at the speck in someone’s eye,

But until we discover the plank in us

We’ll continue with our lies.

Jesus was the perfect one;

Blameless, spotless and pure,

And an example of how we ought to walk

When all things we should endure.

Jesus was transparent

And called out evil by its name;

He exposed their wicked thoughts,

The corruption with their shame.

But He didn’t judge at all;

He mentioned ‘Go and sin no more,’

As His grace and mercy was extended

With His love forevermore.

There’s no excuse to stay in our sin

And although our flesh may scream,

God’s deliverance will set us free

Where His faithfulness is seen.

The heart is deceitful

And desperately wicked too,

According to the word of God

Which is honest and is true.

But God loves us very much

To allow us to remain,

In our bondage and within our chains

Time and time again.

But until we repent

We’ll continue to practice sin,

Because we do not know any better

When God’s truth is not within.

And although we may still sin

It’s not deliberate anymore,

As we’re no longer slaves to unrighteousness

Since the same we now abhor.

When we learn to fight

In the spirit realm through prayer,

God gives us power to overcome

As we leave battles in His care.

God’s commands are not burdensome

But are an anchor for our soul,

To provide stability with steadfastness

So His ways we should uphold.

His beauty and His purity

Will simply forever remain,

Because His righteousness is sincere and true

In Christ Jesus’ holy name.

“Woman, where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?  She said, ‘No one Lord.’  And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.’”  John 8:10-11

“And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?…Hypocrite!  First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”  Matthew 7:3-5

“Jesus answered them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave to sin.’”  John 8:34

“Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”  Romans 6:6

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”  Romans 5:8-9

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Walk as children of light.”  Ephesians 5:8

“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind…”. Philippians 3:14-15

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”  Ephesians 6:12-13

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?”  Jeremiah 17:9

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  2 Corinthians 5:17

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.  And His commandments are not burdensome.  For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.”  1 John 5:3-4

THE MODEL PRAYER

In our secret place we pray to You

Where You can only hear,

In reverent awe and with honour too

With respect and godly fear.

‘Our Father in heaven

Hallowed be Your name,’

As we reflect on all Your goodness

Where Your grace and mercy reigns.

‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven,’

As we become Your hands and feet on earth

And avoid doctrines of leaven.

‘Give us this day our daily bread’

As You provide and feed our soul,

With Your word as it nourishes

That is wholesome to behold.

‘And forgive us our debts,

As we forgive our debtors’ too,

When our transgressions You remember no more

As we forgive to make things new.

‘And do not lead us into temptation

But deliver us from the evil one,’

As You guard our mouth and protect our steps

So Your precious will is done.

‘For Yours is the kingdom

And the power and the glory forever,’

There is none like You our dear Lord

And Amen there will be never!

(C) P.B. 2021

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites…But when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”  Matthew 6:5-6

“In this manner, therefore, pray:  Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.  Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.  For Yours is the kingdom and the power and glory forever. Amen.”  Matthew 6:9-13

“For if you forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”  Matthew 6:14-15

SAUL, SAUL WHY ARE YOU PERSECUTING ME?

When the road to Damascus

Causes a crossroad in our lives,

We cannot run or disappear

And we certainly cannot hide.

Saul was a Pharisee;

The most religious that one could be,

But until he met Jesus on that road

He truly could not see.

‘Saul, Saul…

Why are you persecuting Me?’

Was the voice of the Holy One

Who came to set Saul free.

Likewise until we encounter

The presence of the Lord,

We will travel on our dusty plains

Whilst His commandments we ignore.

Saul was struck by heaven

And had fallen to the ground,

By Jesus Christ the Lord Himself

But where true faith and hope was found.

Saul hated Christians;

He persecuted and tortured same,

But he thought he was doing God a favour

Whilst his self-righteousness remained.

But Saul became Apostle Paul

And instrumental for the Lord,

Through repentance, baptism and faith in Christ

But this time revered God’s word.

He was an enemy of Christ;

A violent and murderous man,

But his conversion made him a saint

Through God’s transforming hand.

He was considered a great apostle

But called himself the least,

Was indeed the most effective

As his dedication would not cease.

We can all relate to Saul

Because although we think we’re right,

It’s not until our road to Damascus

Will reveal to us God’s light.

(C) P.B. 2021

“As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.  Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ And he said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ Then the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.  It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’”  Acts 9:3-5

“Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.  Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptised.”  Acts 9:17-18

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.  But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which I will yet reveal to you… to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”  Acts 26:15-18

“If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.  But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.”  Philippians 3:4-7

“And be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;”  Philippians 3:9

“For I am the least of the Apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.”  1 Corinthians 15:9

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”  1 Timothy 1:15

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except thorough Me.’”  John 14:6

HOW LONG O LORD?

How long O Lord will evil reign

And show its ugly face?

How far can the string be pulled

As wickedness is embraced?

How long will we be oppressed

To be coerced in all we do?

Because the cracks eventually are revealed

When we are dictated to.

How long O Lord will Your mercy extend

Before their ideas come crashing down?

Since they will reap what they will sow

When their unwholesome fruit abounds.

Walls of tyranny do come down

But not soon enough it seems,

But You’re working out Your perfect plan

And all behind the scenes.

They think they hold the power

But indeed only You do,

As they’re deceived to think they’re in control

With their manipulation too.

Their reign is only short term

And most times does not end well,

When they rule and reign against Your ways

And disasters they do spell.

How long O Lord, how long indeed

Will Your statutes not be used,

And Your commandments be trodden upon

Whilst Your children are abused?

How long can we be repressed

When evil has its way,

When good is ‘evil’ and evil is ‘good’

And where unrighteousness remains?

How long O Lord is the cry

For true wisdom to be restored,

With common sense and godly fear

As all bow to You my Lord?

Although our trials are temporary

In the scheme of eternity,

At times the pain is too profound;

We need Your mercy urgently!

We cry from the heart

For true justice to be revealed,

And we trust in Your perfect timing

For situations to be healed.

But we do see the small victories

And one by one at least,

As we see our prayers being answered

And this gives us hope and peace.

The darker it will get

The more Your miracles will abound,

As Your glory is revealed to all

And where salvation will be found.

You’re faithful and You’re patient

Whilst You work within our hearts,

To chisel, change and to restore

So we are set apart.

You have the final victory,

Always have and always will,

When evil is like a speck of sand

Whilst Your prophecy is fulfilled.

Hallelujah and all glory

To You alone our God and Lord,

As You warn us but You make a promise

So to You we are restored.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul…the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”  Psalm 19:7-9

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”  Isaiah 5:20

“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.  But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!”  Luke 12:4-5

“By your patience possess your souls.”  Luke 21:19

“And shall not God avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?  I tell you that He will avenge them speedily.”  Luke 18:7-8

“In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”  Romans 14:11

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  Philippians 2:10-11

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”  Galatians 6:7

“If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14

FACE VALUE

When we take things at face value

What do we actually see?

It is truth, reality or factual indeed

Or one big fantasy?

When we take things at face value

Are we seeing what’s really portrayed?

Or is it a counterfeit or something fake

Where an illusion has been made?

Because the simple reality is

That unless we dig deeper than what we see,

We’ll only catch a glimpse of the bigger picture

And may avoid reality.

We’ll believe everything we’re told

Without examining the information,

And unless we research the matter at hand

There will be speculation.

A smile may appear real

At face value indeed,

But it may be coated with venom

With a hatred we cannot see.

The rich may envy those poorer

Or those with a simple heart,

Because when the love of money is a root of all evil

It can tear families apart.

A mansion is stunning indeed

A lifestyle coveted,

But only God knows the reality within;

The heartaches or regrets.

Because disillusionment lives at the top

With many shattered hopes and dreams,

Since we’re created to love and worship God

And nothing in-between.

The celebrities and those famous

Perhaps would give anything,

To be left alone, to be anonymous

But where true freedom this will bring.

The poor may be content

And rejoice in what they receive,

Who make the most of everything

And most likely are not deceived.

Taking things at face value

Is like a jigsaw incomplete,

Where the story is yet to be painted;

It’s when the pieces do not meet.

Taking things at face value

Is a shallow way to exist,

Because unless we stand for something

We’ll fall for anything in our midst.

A gorgeous face does not equate

With an equally beautiful soul,

Because when externals become important

Internal thoughts will not unfold.

Jesus knew what was in the hearts

Of everyone He met,

But His powerful words that were filled with truth

Caused people to repent.

His truth can pierce our conscience

Since His words project much light,

Emanating from the Heavenly Father

They are words filled with life.

The depths of God’s word

And the richness of His ways,

Will reward us with His forgiveness

When in our repented heart He stays.

(C) P.B. 2021

“For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil…”. 1 Timothy 6:10

“Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!”  James 5:1

“But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, ‘Why are you reasoning in your hearts?’”  Luke 5:22

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap.”  Galatians 6:7

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have.”  Hebrews 13:5

“Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!  For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.”  Matthew 23:27

“Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  Acts 2:38

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL

Nothing can and will compare

To Your pure and glorious ways;

You’re simply beautiful and so majestic

And forever will remain.

Your creation is marvellous

And our soul it knows too well,

That Your presence does envelop us

When in our heart You dwell.

You’re simply beautiful and splendid

And all wickedness You abhor,

Since You’re a God of perfect justice

And all evil You won’t ignore.

You’re precious and full of mercy

And Your patience it endures,

As You desire that all come to repentance

So in Your eyes they are made pure.

You’re simply beautiful indeed;

Your hand will never forsake us,

As You understand our weaknesses

And remember we’re made from dust.

Your heartbeat gave us Jesus

To die on the cross for our sins;

A heart of love so incredible

To save our soul within.

Your majesty it shines

And Your glory is revealed,

When Your saving grace shines in our soul

Where our salvation You will seal.

Although You’re mocked and ridiculed

Lord have mercy on their souls,

Because they do not know or have discovered

Your beauty yet, behold!

You remember those tormented

Or tortured for Your name,

But their eternal reward is magnificent

When in Your kingdom they will reign.

Your grace is simply beautiful

And there can never ever be,

Anyone or anything greater than You

Or more precious we could see.

You’re so thoughtful and considerate

Even the scent of a rose will attest,

That Your hand in all creation

Wants to bless us with Your best.

You’re simply and purely beautiful

And the depths of our soul does know,

That Your protection and deliverance

Will be with us as we go.

Even Your judgement is beautiful

And Your glory it does reveal,

Because we all fall very short indeed

But through repentance we are healed.

You’re simply grand and beautiful;

Incredible in every way,

A sovereign God in total control

And forever will remain.
