NEW BEGINNINGS

Refreshing and inspirational

Are new beginnings indeed;

A hope sealed with a promise

Like a well-nourished seed.

A seed that grows and will transform

As old ways are left behind,

When the fountain in our soul

Much rest and peace will find.

When love and faith are sown

In the soil of our heart,

There’s a hope that is produced

With a welcomed brand new start.

God’s mercies are new every morning

And although valleys may be deep,

He comforts and protects us

And His promises He keeps.

He lifts us from the miry clay

As we place our trust in Him,

Where faithfulness and steadfastness

Brings deliverance within.

As our old nature is replaced

And where His Spirt will abide,

There’s the process of sanctification

As our carnal ways will die.

Each year begins with hope

As we explore with a renewed vision;

As we climb new mountains and terrain too

Where resilience marks every mission.

New beginnings are always fresh

In every aspect of our lives,

With an attitude of gratitude

When these beginnings do arrive.

God bless us and refresh us

As He restores and makes things new,

As we welcome this new year

With a love and faith that’s true.

AMAZING GRACE

How amazing is Your precious grace

When eyes can finally see,

Your undeserved mercy and unconditional love

That sets the captives free.

How brilliant is Your arm of grace

That extends to lift us high,

That plucks us from the miry clay

And can never be denied.

How splendid is Your majesty

And with Your providence so true,

When Your grace decided to create us

To give You all the honour too.

How amazing is Your gift of grace

Because You had every right to withhold,

And Your pure and Your spotless ways

Are more worthy than all gold.

The riches of Your amazing grace

Grants us the power to live,

To search and to discover Your ways

And to You the glory give.

How undeserved is Your grace

Since we’re covered with stains of sin,

But Your amazing grace gave us Jesus Christ

To save our soul within.

How brilliant is Your amazing grace

To contemplate the cross,

To reconcile us and to redeem us too

So forever we’re not lost.

Your mercy and Your grace have kissed

So Your plan of salvation is sealed;

When Jesus is our Lord and Saviour

And our soul is cleansed and healed.

A CHILD IS BORN

The season has arrived

And on its meaning we reflect;

The special time in history

We ought to not forget.

It’s the birth of our Lord

When God’s Son came to earth,

And where the wise men they worshipped Him

With gold, frankincense and myrrh.

The Lord had a special mission

To reconcile us to the Father,

Through His death and resurrection;

Through only Him and through no other.

He was crucified and beaten

And He was nailed to the cross,

Like a lamb led to the slaughter;

He paid the ultimate of costs.

But His obedience saw victory

And it was His sacrificial love,

That paid the price for our liberty

As we’re reconciled above.

Those who receive Him

Will be washed and cleansed within,

Through repentance and humility

And delivered from all sin.

The birth of our Lord

Was the greatest of all gifts,

Because the rewards are eternal

Where the soul forever lives.

It’s a profound time in history;

A moment that cannot be compared,

When the heartbeat of the Father

Showed His tender love and care.

We thank God for Jesus Christ

And His sacrifice here on earth;

The most poignant but most victorious

Heralding our precious spiritual birth.

(C) P.B. 2021

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah 9:6

“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.  The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge, and of the fear of the Lord.”  Isaiah 11:1-2

“And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.  And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”  Matthew 2:11

“That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”  1 Corinthians 15:3-4

“He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”  Psalm 23:3

“But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”  John 1:12

“But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.”  Hebrews 10:39

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”  John 14:6

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’”  John 3:3

‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  Acts 2:38

MOMENTS IN TIME

There is a season for everything

With a purpose every time,

With reason and with meaning;

Appointed moments in our lives.

The sacred time of birth

As we welcome our first breath,

As we journey to the end

Where there is the time of death.

There’s a moment we do plant

As we sow what we shall reap,

And there’s a time for the harvest

So there’s plenty we can eat.

Emotional upheavals do occur

When with our words we kill,

But through repentance and forgiveness

There is a time to heal.

Our tears will cascade

And there is a time to mourn,

But times of refreshing they will come

When laughter will be born.

There’s a time for solitude

As we reflect upon our life,

And we refrain from all the noise;

The negativity or strife.

There’s a time for prosperity

As we gain and multiply,

But the moment where we lose

Inevitably will arise.

There are moments we accumulate

From the fruit of all our labor,

But equally a time to dispose

When things will lose their flavour.

There are moments when our silence

Is the wisest thing to do,

But there’s the imperative of speaking out

To project what’s good and true.

There’s that wretched time of war

Where greed and power meet,

But we rejoice when freedom and liberty

Will give us lots of peace.

There are moments in our journey

In this life that is bestowed,

But the most crucial is to fear God

Where reverence it is shown.

(C) P.B. 2021

“To everything there is a season.  A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, and a time to lose; A time to keep, and a time to throw away; A time to tear, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace.”  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:  Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.  For God will bring every work into judgement, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.”  Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

JUST IMAGINE…

Just imagine a place so beautiful

Where there will be no more tears;

A destination so indescribable

That will last throughout the years.

Just imagine a place so purely divine

Where darkness can never dwell,

And where the pain that we once encountered

Is truly forgotten as well.

Just imagine a picture so perfect

Where no blemish can ever smear,

And where peace and joy will last forever

With a love we hold so dear.

Just imagine the reality

That this place is so very real,

When it continues into the everlasting;

Where our brokenness is healed.

And just imagine the pure delight

When we know it will never end,

Because the price that was paid was priceless

When Jesus Christ became our friend.

It took three nails and a plank

And the shape of a cross indeed,

When our Lord and Savior was crucified

So for our sins He would intercede.

Just imagine the pain and torture

That Christ had to truly endure,

So we’re given the opportunity

To rest in His kingdom so pure.

Just imagine if He chose not to

But was disobedient like us all,

The course of history would be different

As our name could not be called.

The blood of the Lamb was mandatory

To appease God’s anger and hurt,

So just imagine the necessity

Of an exchange with a spiritual birth.

(C) P.B. 2021

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  You are My friends if you do whatever I command You.”  John 15:13-14

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  John 3:3

“…that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures…”. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.”  Revelation 21:1

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:4

“Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.”  Revelation 21:11

“The twelve gates were twelve pearls; each individual gate was of one pearl.  And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.  But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.”  Revelation 21:21-22

“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.  In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month.  The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.  And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.”  Revelation 22:1-3

“But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”  Revelation 21:27

“And they shall reign forever and ever.”  Revelation 22:5

IT REALLY WILL NOT MATTER (PART 2)

It really will not matter

At the end of the day,

Whether we were rich or poor

But rather whether we were saved.

It really will not matter

Whether we were religious or pious too,

Because unless Jesus was our Savior

Our faith simply was not true.

It really will not matter

Whether fame or success,

Was our necklace and our rear guard

Since only God’s plan was for our best.

Because only He could turn our tragedies

Into meaningful testimonies,

When we trusted Him with all our heart

So deliverance we’d see.

It really will not matter

Whether head knowledge was our crown,

Because the many lies and deceptions

With arrogance had kept us bound.

Because if we strived to impress

And to appear intelligent as well,

There would have been a void inside our soul

Where insecurities did dwell.

It was the kindness and the gentleness

That people craved to see,

With the humble spirit that came from God

That truly set us free.

And it really will not matter

Whether externally all looked fine,

Because when we stood to give account…

Reality was defined.

It really will not matter

Whether the compliments did flow,

Because God saw the insincerity

And the depths of hearts only He knows.

And it really will not matter

Whether we were respected in people’s eyes,

Because our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Was actually despised.

But what will really matter

Is whether God’s saving love and grace,

Was our covering through Jesus Christ

When we see Him face to face.

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord.”  Jeremiah 17:5

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?  I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.”  Jeremiah 17:9-10

“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”  Hebrews 4:13

“He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised and we did not esteem Him.”  Isaiah 53:3

“He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter..”  Isaiah 53:7

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.”  Psalm 27:4

“I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.”  Psalm 17:15

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”  John 14:6

MOUNTAINS

When it appears too overwhelming

And when mountains escalate,

It may appear our prayers aren’t answered

But God’s timing is never late.

When our mountains become strenuous

To climb or to overcome,

All hope is never lost

When we embrace God’s pure love.

The molehills in our life;

Large mountains they can become,

When our focus is on the problem

Rather than in healing through God’s Son.

Because when our ship appears to sink

And the waves come crashing down,

There’s a lifeguard who walks on water

And who can turn our life around.

When our waters are too deep

And when trepidation does take place,

There’s a Savior who extends His arm

With kindness and with grace.

No mountain is too high

And no valley is too deep,

When our faith and trust remains in Christ

And when victories we reap.

When we humble ourselves before the Lord

And with faith as a mustard seed,

We begin to respect His sovereignty

And prayerful outcomes we do see.

The mustard seed is the smallest

But it thrives and grows indeed,

And when prayers are wholehearted

Miracles happen on our knees.

Goliaths do come crumbling down

With their magnitude as well,

And it’s our pebbles that make an impact

With God’s power and His help.

T’was on the mountain at Calvary

Where our Savior was crucified,

But where redemption and victory powerfully met

When after three days Christ did rise.

(C) P.B. 2021

“For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has mercy on you.”  Isaiah 54:10

“…for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”  Matthew 17:20

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”  Matthew 13:31-32

“Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin.  But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.’”  1 Samuel 17:45

“Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.”  1 Samuel 17:49

“…who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high…”. Hebrews 1:3

“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble, and those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”  Psalm 9:9-10

“And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’  And when they got into the boat the wind ceased.  Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, ‘Truly You are the Son of God.’”  Matthew 14:31-33

RAISING THE DEAD

It would appear an impossible feat

But when faith is placed in the Lord,

There is nothing that He cannot do

With many examples in His word.

When He raised the son of the widow

Who in the coffin lay,

He said ‘Young man, I say to you, arise’

Where death no longer reigned.

The people saw miracles

When Jesus cured infirmities;

He delivered many from evil spirits

And also the blind could finally see.

He now restores our broken heart

And resurrects the hope within,

As His promises are faithful

Since He is the King of kings.

Situations may be hopeless

And although with patience we do pray,

When God’s timing comes to answer

It’s always worth the wait.

And when Jesus is our Savior

In conjunction with our Lord,

We will never taste the second death

As promised in His word.

One of the most special miracles

Is when we’re resurrected unto life,

Having been dead in sin and trespasses

But through Jesus made alive.

And the most important resurrection

Is from the dead when Jesus rose,

And when victory was claimed

Over all darkness and all foes.

Those that trust in Him will resurrect

On that glorious of days,

When all pain becomes a shadow

And with God to forever reign.

(C) P.B. 2021

“And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow…When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’  Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still.  And He said, ‘Young man, I say to you, arise.’”  Luke 7:12-14

“So he who was dead sat up and began to speak.  And He presented him to his mother.”  Luke 7:15

“Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying ‘A great prophet has risen up amongst us,’ and ‘God has visited His people.’”  Luke 7:16

“And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.”  Luke 7:21

“Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.  And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.’”  Luke 7:22-23

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first.”  1 Thessalonians 4:16

“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”  Romans 6:4

“Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:11

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,”  Ephesians 2:1-2

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”  Ephesians 2:4-6

“But the cowardly, unbelieving…and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”  Revelation 21:8

WHEN RUTH MET BOAZ

A widow’s hurt and broken heart

Along with all the tears;

A grieving and a lonely soul

That lasts throughout the years.

A life support that’s been removed

And now fends for herself;

A contrite and a broken heart

Without her husband’s help.

Ruth became a widow

But an inspiration for all to see,

Leaving all her customs and her beliefs

To follow her mother-in-law Naomi.

Naomi’s God and faith

Compelled Ruth for Him to know,

She said ‘Your people shall be my people’

‘For wherever you go, I will go.’

Ruth had a renewed hope

And left all that she knew,

She left Moab and stepped out in faith

With a sincere love so true.

And then Ruth met Boaz

Whilst she gleaned in his field,

And found favour in his sight

As her future was then sealed.

Boaz was a blessed man;

He was King David’s great grandfather,

And Ruth’s faithful love yielded dividends

With many blessings hereafter.

Boaz was a prominent man;

A God-fearing one as well,

And Ruth’s virtuous ways were known to all

When with her mother-in-law she dwelled.

Ruth married Boaz

And her widowhood ceased to be;

Their offspring belonged to a royal lineage

Where many kings were seen.

The Book of Ruth gives us hope

It’s God’s redeeming hand,

That He will provide and make things new

When He comes to heal our land.

When we become the Bride of Christ

He refreshes and He restores,

As our widowhood with shattered dreams

Becomes our identity no more.

(C) P.B. 2021

“And she said, ‘Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.’”  Ruth 1:15

“But Ruth said: ‘Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.’” Ruth 1:16

“So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, ‘Why have I found favour in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?’”  Ruth 2:10

“And Boaz answered and said to her, ‘It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before.  The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.’”  Ruth 2:11-12

“I will do for you all that you request, for all the people of my town know that you are a virtuous woman.”  Ruth 3:11

“So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife…and she bore a son.”  Ruth 4:13

“And may he be to you a restorer of life a a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him.”  Ruth 4:15

“Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed; Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.”  Ruth 4:21-22

THE ONE WHOM HE FORGAVE MORE

T’was the pointing of the finger

In a self-righteous manner too,

Highlighting the sins of the woman

With all she’d say and do.

But she washed Jesus’ feet

With tears and wiped them with her hair;

They were anointed with the fragrant oil

As she showed tender love and care.

Although her transgressions were many

As all knew her history…

It was at the feet of Jesus she found forgiveness

As He truly set her free.

Her love for Christ was deep;

It was sincere and profound,

As we remember her honourable deed

When her pure love it knew no bounds.

This woman was forgiven much

As her spiritual debt was immense,

But we are all like her in need of forgiveness;

To be redeemed and to be blessed.

The lawyers and the Pharisees

Rejected the will of God for themselves;

Avoided being baptised

Where self-righteousness did dwell.

But our righteous deeds can never save

Because if they simply truly did,

Then Jesus wouldn’t have suffered immeasurably

To redeem us from our sins.

‘The one whom he forgave more’

Will be the most grateful one,

Having understood the depth of our debt;

Requiring intervention by God’s Son.

It’s at the feet of Jesus

As we humbly bow to Him,

That we’re cleansed and are forgiven

From all our debts and all our sins.

(C) P.B. 2021

“And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Simon, I have something to say to you.’ So he said, ‘Teacher, say it.’  ‘There was a certain creditor who had two debtors, One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.  And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both.  Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?’”  Luke 7:40-42

“Simon answered and said, ‘I suppose the one whom he forgave more.’  And He said to him, ‘You have rightly judged.’”  Luke 7:43

“Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman?  I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.  You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in.  You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.’”  Luke 7:44-46

“Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much.  But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.  Then He said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’”  Luke 7:47-48

“Then He said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you.  Go in peace.’”  Luke 7:50

“But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptised by him.”  Luke 7:30

“There is none righteous, no, not one;”  Romans 3:10
