THE GOOD FIGHT

When we fight to obtain justice

We’re passionate in our plea,

To reveal the facts and expose the lies

So the truth it will set free.

When we approach all situations

With good conscience and sincere faith,

We can engage in good warfare

And we run the noble race.

But how can we be sure

That our fight is honourable,

When our motives and desires

Can at times have us fooled?

As we may sometimes fight for causes

So our duty is fulfilled,

But unless God gets the glory

Its perhaps in vain and outside His will.

It’s God’s standards that do matter

As to what is wrong and right,

And this should be our benchmark

As to which battles we should fight.

It’s all the godly family values

And the sanctity of all life,

That’s always worth fighting for

To avoid potential strife.

The breastplate of righteousness

Coupled with the shield of faith,

Protect us from the fiery arrows

And point to right action we should take.

The helmet of salvation

Protects our mind and thoughts,

As the sword of the spirit

Slays heresy of every sort.

When we gird our waist with truth

And share the gospel of peace,

We freely release the good news

So from bondage souls are released.

The good fight is imperative

If we wish to overcome,

All temptations and ungodly desires

To ensure the battle is won.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:14-17

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
