WISE IN OUR OWN EYES

There is a wisdom from above

That surpasses everything,

Because God’s knowledge and instruction

Much joy and peace it brings.

Oftentimes we are wise

But we’re wise in our own eyes,

With worldly wisdom to solve our issues;

But where true solutions are disguised.

Worldly wisdom will appeal

To the itching of the ear,

And unless we meditate and pray for truth

It’s what we wish to hear.

To be wise in our own eyes

Will sustain us for a time,

But the moment surely will arise

When God’s wisdom we’ll strive to find.

Because His wisdom is discerning;

It digs deeper so it finds,

The core focus of the issue at hand

Since it’s pure and is refined.

God’s wisdom stores understanding

Where true knowledge will abound,

It’s when the paths of justice are preserved

And where righteousness is found.

When God’s wisdom enters our heart through grace

And HIs knowledge is stored in our soul,

It will deliver us from the way of evil

With a reverence to behold.

It is health to our flesh

And becomes strength to our bones,

When God is feared and respected

As we worship Him alone.

Wisdom is pure and undefiled

When it emanates from God’s holy word;

Where discretion will preserve us

As we trust in our precious Lord.

“For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.”  2 Corinthians 1:12

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”  2 Timothy 4:3-4

“Who is wise and understanding among you?  Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.  But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.  This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.  For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil things are there.  James 3:13-16

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”  James 3:17
