TAKING THE HINT

When we try to complete a picture

We will need a hint or two,

And when we unscramble many words

We require certain clues.

Although the words are before our eyes

We simply cannot see,

Because unless there’s a revelation

We’re blindfolded as can be.

We take the hint when we discern

What the motive really is,

As we read between the lines indeed

So the truth we will not miss.

There’s wisdom in the many hints

Particularly pertaining to the Lord,

Because eternal life and our redemption

Is found inside His word.

Jesus spoke in parables

And the hint was always there;

It’s unfortunate they couldn’t see or hear

Since they really did not care.

Likewise, when Christians share the gospel

Their intentions are pure and true,

Because they sincerely point to the important fact;

Salvation for me and you.

We take the hint through body language

Whether one is interested or not,

In what we say or in what we convey

And thus we know just when to stop.

But the hints are always seeds

And when they take root in the heart,

They flourish through God’s grace

Where there’s growth with a new start.

Let’s take the hint and thus be saved

That Jesus died and rose for us,

To redeem our soul and be reconciled

To God the Father through the cross.

“Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.”  Matthew 13:13

“And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; for the hearts of this people have grown dull.  Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.’”  Matthew 13:14-15

“But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”  Matthew 13:16-17

“But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”  Matthew 13:23
