We have many opportunities
In our lives to be discouraged,
When our circumstances bring hardships
And when our plans simply won’t flourish.
But there will always be and always exist
Someone in a worse situation;
Whose pain and trauma dampens their soul
And where trials test their patience.
We’re to be content with what we have
And associate with the humble,
To live in peace and simplicity
And avoid those who make us stumble.
God will always exalt the humble
And will humble the exalted indeed;
He’ll expose the hidden motives
Of deception, lust and greed.
When we’re happy with our lot in life
And where gratitude exists,
We no longer need to covet or envy
What’s on our neighbour’s list.
Gratitude is like a flower
That has unfolded in its glory;
A genuine feeling, authentic love
With no fabricated stories.
Thank God that He sent His Son
To be a propitiation for our sins,
With our most gratifying, heartfelt thanks
When we’re chosen to live with Him.
