BUILT ON THE ROCK

A rock is sure and steady

It is solid with a foundation to trust;

A firmness that cannot be moved

As it forms the earth’s crust.

The formation of rocks are subjected to heat

Along with much pressure too,

To create a physical and chemical change

As they change in form and made new.

All mountains and cliffs are formed from rock

And stand the tallest they can be;

Unmoved and cannot be shaken

A wondrous formation to see.

When something is built on the rock

It’s unswayed and cemented indeed,

And irrespective of the winds and waves

No movement it will see.

Whoever comes to Jesus

To hear His sayings too,

Will progressively bear much fruit

When they listen and they do.

When one is obedient

It’s like building a house on the rock,

And although the floods rise with vehement winds

They cannot destroy when they knock.

But when one listens and chooses to ignore

It’s like building on the sand…

Without a sure and steady foundation

With ruins too great to understand.

A rock is a firm foundation

And when we dig deep to build,

There’s a steadfastness with a solid hope

Without any fear or guilt.

Jesus is a rock and strong fortress

And whoever grasps HIs words indeed,

Will form a solid base with an unshakeable faith

When they’re justified and redeemed.

“Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like;  He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock.  And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.  But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently and immediately it fell.  And the ruin of that house was great.”  Luke 6:47-49

“For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, lead me and guide me.” Psalm 31:3

“When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”  Psalm 61:2

“Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold…the harvest will be a heap of ruins.”  Isaiah 17:10-11
