I’M SORRY

They are words that require humility

But they’re powerful words indeed…

The simple ‘I’m sorry’ when they’re expressed from the heart

Will allow forgiveness to intercede.

Because whey they’re genuine and sincere

Much needed healing can take place;

When those words they resonate in one’s soul

Recognising there’s issues to face.

‘I’m sorry’ are words that will restore

Realising that one has transgressed,

And has offended or deeply hurt someone

When from the heart they’re expressed.

‘I’m sorry’ are words we yearn to hear

When boundaries are crossed;

When disrespectful and hateful comments

Our friendships they can cost.

‘I’m sorry’ are powerful words

And although the offence we may not forget,

It allows us to heal and to move on

Where we forgive and have no regrets.

We’ve all offended a holy God

And those words He yearns to hear;

As we express remorse to our Heavenly Father

Having offended the One so dear.

But God promises to forget our sins

When we repent from a sincere heart,

He casts them all behind His back

When we commence a refreshing start.

We should all have remorse

For nailing Jesus to the cross,

As we all have sinned and fall short of God’s grace

And for our soul He paid the cost.

When we’re deeply sorry for our transgressions

There’s a freedom that we acquire;

As we’re reconciled to God and realise

That Christ’s sacrifice was required.

“Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations..” Luke 24:46-47

“For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; ‘I will dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”’ Isaiah 57:15

“For you have cast all my sins behind Your back.” Isaiah 38:17
