A foundation provides the groundwork
So the load of a structure sits;
And when it’s solid and it’s steadfast
There’s much safety in our midst.
A moral foundation is paramount
Of a way of life or belief,
If there’s to be stability, order and respect
Where kindness and love will meet.
A foundation is an anchor
And cemented with solid trust;
And if anything is to stand and remain
A good foundation is a must.
When Jesus Christ is our foundation
Where our hope and faith is laid;
It’s a surety with clarity
And where wise decisions are made.
He’s the anchor of our soul
But will lift our every burden,
Whilst building on our foundation
With a faith and love that’s certain.
Because the wisdom of this world
Is foolishness to the Lord;
Since it may be self-gratifying
And not according to His word.
Jesus is our foundation
And if we build on anything less,
It will not stand the test of time
And will ultimately fail the test.
A good moral foundation is imperative
If it’s to bear the heavy load;
With the winds, storms and elements
since it reaps what it has sowed.
God cannot be mocked
As our work will be revealed by fire,
And as to whether our foundation was in Christ
Or built on the sand of our desires.
