GRACE AND MERCY

It’s only by grace we are saved

By His tender loving mercy;

The riches of His wonderful love

Through Christ who is pure and worthy.

He makes us alive

As we awaken from spiritual slumber;

Whilst dead in sins and trespasses

In ways too numerous to number.

We’re mainly unaware of our conduct

And our need for a Savior,

Whilst we conduct ourselves in our lusts

And all our fleshly of behaviours.

But His grace and mercy touches us

In ways too deep to understand,

As we’re cleansed and redeemed

And rescued by His sovereign hand.

The riches of His grace

Are revealed to us through faith;

And His exceeding kindness is extended

To ensure we finish the race.

The wealth of His grace and mercy

Exceeds any form of treasure,

Since the beauty that’s poured from His heart

Cannot be understood nor measured.

But the evidence of His grace

Is seen when we’re made alive;

When we were once dead in trespasses

But now we see the light.

His mercy we cannot comprehend

It’s too marvellous indeed,

But the mere fact He rescues us

Reveals His love to intercede.

It’s by grace through faith that we’re saved

And by trusting in Jesus Christ;

Who shed His blood to give us eternal life

A sacrifice precious in God’s sight.
