JESUS -v- MAN-MADE RELIGION

It’s a controversial topic

And forever it will be…

But when the Holy Spirit dwells within

From man-made religion we’re set free.

Our culture usually determines

The religion to which we adhere;

Along with the morals we are taught

And in our heart hold dear.

But when we’re led by God

We’re not bound by regulations,

Nor by rules or the law

And freed from heavy expectations.

His yoke is easy and is light

Because He’s the One who guides;

He reveals His righteous ways indeed

So we can walk in the light.

Man-made religion produces guilt

Whereby God’s ways do liberate,

They set us free from bondage

From all fear, guilt and hate.

Because a heavy price was paid

When Jesus hung on the cross;

So the eyes of our soul can open indeed

And reveal the lies embossed.

Jesus rebuked those Pharisees

Who imposed heavy burdens and traditions,

Because they promoted hypocrisy and fear as well

Not from God’s word but their man-made religion.

But Nicodemus was a Pharisee

Who honoured the teachings of Christ;

He had a revelation

That the new spiritual birth does suffice.

When true religion is biblical

It’s God’s heart we manifest,

To protect the orphan and the widow

And to do for them what’s best.

It’s to not conduct out of obligation

Or because we know it’s right;

But to sincerely provide and to assist

And to do so with delight.

When people prefer to believe the lie

That God and man-made religion are one,

An excuse can manifest in their soul

To justify rejecting His Son.

God is pure and sets us free

So joy can manifest within,

With a freedom that’s righteous and led by truth

When we’re forgiven for all our sin.
