It’s so easy to learn and to acquire
Knowledge of every sort;
As we study, read, reflect and review
And muse on everything we’re taught.
Head knowledge has its purpose
And assists in many ways,
But when it’s used incorrectly
It is used for our own praise.
Whereas love will edify the soul
With its warm and genuine ways;
When kindness and a gentle touch
Is promoted day by day.
Knowledge will puff up indeed
With its information overload,
Because it’s impressive and receives compliments
Where its pride it won’t forego.
It’s too easy to be bombarded
And to increase in knowledge too,
But it’s more important to be consumed by love
And sincere in all we do.
Love promotes much peace indeed
Whereas knowledge can increase stress;
When there’s competition to be better
And more successful than the rest.
Because knowledge can become an idol
When we focus to increase same;
When the motive is to impress indeed
Or to gain some type of fame.
Love will edify in every way
Because our soul it cries for same;
It yearns to feel its genuine touch
Rather than all pretence and games.
When love will edify our heart
We feel complete in every way,
Because it is designed by God and deposited
In our soul so it remains.
It is priceless but worth more than gold
Since nothing can compare;
It’s a treasure chest of every gem
When we show tender loving care.
God is the source of love
And Jesus is our example;
To love our neighbour and do them no harm
Where love is truly ample.
