Our King of kings and Lord of lords
In a humble manger you were laid,
And visited by the three wise men
Who knew the price that You would pay.
Their gifts were symbolic
As they understood prophetically,
That the gold, frankincense and myrrh
Is what our King would live to see.
When the Father was worshipped in the Holy of Holies
The altar and walls were made of gold,
And now our Jesus has provided the way for us
To have a relationship with God.
Our King of kings You grew to be
God manifested in the flesh;
To reconcile us to the Father
And to give our soul much rest.
The pure frankincense was symbolic
An aroma beautiful and sweet,
With the burning of incense at the altar
Now we worship at Jesus’ feet.
The myrrh was an anointing oil
Used for burial of loved ones,
And the three wise men knew through the Scriptures
Of the sacrifice of God’s Son.
Your victory was loud and clear
When Your resurrection did take place;
With Your ascension as You entered glory
So the second death we do not face.
Our King of kings and Lord of lords
How Your life’s mission glorified God;
You’re our anointed, sweet smelling aroma
With a precious ‘heart of gold.’
