When we are hated on or spat at
But where our faith it preaches love,
We ought to know we are on the right path
Honouring the Lord our God above.
When we’re oppressed, cancelled or despised
Without any cause at all,
The Lord’s grace and protection will cover us
Whilst His enemies will fall.
Because to do what’s righteous in God’s eyes
Will invite much opposition,
Since the fallen nature of our carnal soul
Will naturally cause friction.
When we are deceived;
We believe all the opinions of man,
Where self-righteousness does reign
And where arrogance will stand.
When we are loved by the world
It’s because we are like them,
And no different at all whatsoever
Since there’s no reason to offend.
Because the cross of Christ is offensive;
It’s an enormous stumbling block,
To those who are perishing
And to those who are lost.
But when we are born again
We’ve come to realise our deepest need,
That our soul requires a Savior
And a Lord who intercedes.
And when we’re judged by man
It’s just an opinion anyway,
And not based on fact or truth at all
But where assumptions do remain.
When we are reliant on God
We ask and do receive,
According to His will and plan
Where He listens and intercedes.
When we are hated
For sharing the good news for God’s cause,
His justice does eventually prevail
According to His laws.
Jesus was a perfect man
But for no reason was despised;
He came to earth to save His own
And He was precious in God’s eyes.
Like a lamb to the slaughter;
Our Jesus walked the way,
In humility and meekness
In order for us to be saved.
When we are loved by God
It’s the most precious gift of all,
And the least we can do is to respond
When our name He calls.
