It’s too easy to believe in God
Since demons do and tremble too,
But it’s no indication of a saving faith
Or of a heart that’s been renewed.
It’s too easy to say we have faith
And that in God we really trust,
But it’s in our deepest valleys and darkest moments
That true faith becomes a must.
It’s too easy to portray ourselves
As appearing collected and positive,
In order to be strong for those around us
But where there’s turmoil in our midst.
And it’s too easy to conform
Or where surface conformity is revealed,
But the cognitive dissonance nagging our soul
Is a reminder we’re not being real.
It’s too easy to point the finger
And to judge the actions of anyone,
But those fingers need to reveal our planks;
Of what is hidden and is done.
It’s too easy to conform to the world
And in its self-centred sense of peace,
But unless the Father will forgive our sins
True peace is not released.
And we’ll look everywhere to be appeased
Whether it’s materialism or idols,
But that restlessness will continue to linger
Until we read and study the bible.
Only Jesus can give us lasting peace
Because only God has that authority,
And He calms our soul just like a weaned child
So genuine joy and peace we see.
And although it’s not easy to humble ourselves
Since our mindset has been cemented,
God is extending His loving arm as He draws
Our heart that is repentant.
It wasn’t easy for the Lord
To be willingly crucified,
But He saw our faces in eternity
As He hung in torment and then died.
But it was too easy for the Father
When His precious Son He did resurrect;
A profound moment indeed in history
And one we ought to never ever forget.
