NOTHING BUT LOVE

An affection that runs deep

With an overwhelming love;

All perfect, pure attributes

From our heavenly Father above.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made

Orchestrated by His hand;

A living miracle beyond comprehension

In ways we cannot understand.

A perfect design and intricate frame

Is every single creation;

Thoughtfully crafted from an intelligent mind

Made with care and patience.

He loves us more than grains of sand

And deeper than any sea;

His waves of love higher than an ocean

A pure love indeed.

But His love required a sacrifice

To appease His wrath towards sin,

As Christ was crucified to pay the price

So our soul is justified within.

True love goes the extra mile

And is never selfish or loud;

It’s considerate towards the needs of others

With meekness and never proud.

Let’s not blame God for all misfortunes

Since its the enemy of our soul,

That comes to kill, steal and destroy

With all wicked intents he unfolds.

God’s love is pure and humble

And compels us as He draws;

He awakens us from our spiritual death

And new life in us He pours.

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, o God!…more in number than the sand.” Psalm 139:17-18

“Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” John 10:10

“…unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

WHEAT OR TARES

They are similar in nature

And in appearance as they grow;

As for a difference in their structure

It’s too difficult to know.

They grow together side by side

As they appear to be twins,

But their foundations are not similar

And there’s discrepancy within.

The tares compete with the wheat

For water, food and sun,

But these weeds attract the pests

Rendering them useless to anyone.

And the time of harvest does arrive

Where a sifting will take place,

As the real grain is put aside

While the weeds furnace they face.

As the wheat will bow its golden head

While the tares stand proud and tall;

The wheat demonstrates humility

While the tares prepare to fall.

To have a heart of wheat

Can be fruitful in many ways,

But a heart that produces tares

Brings deception to its days.

The Lord will seperate the two

As all will be exposed;

Let’s ensure our grain can be harvested

As we will reap what we will sow.

(C) P.B. 2014

‘Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ‘ Matthew 13:30

“For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Galatians 6:8

SHEEP OR GOAT

There are two types of people

Without any shades of grey,

Either black or white in nature

In a spiritual type of way.

The sheep will hear its master’s voice

And learns to obey;

The goat has many stubborn traits

And continues in its ways.

The sheep require a shepherd

To be led in pastures green;

The goat will kick and grunt and run

With a nature not serene.

The sheep provide much comfort

With a soft and humble heart;

The goat is quite rebellious

It tears most things apart.

Our Lord will separate the sheep

From the goats on that great day,

As the goats are tossed to the left

And the sheep have right of way.

As our spirit is either black or white

What side of fence are we?

Are we sheep or goats, we must be sure

as it will determine our destiny.

(C) P.B. 2014

“The sheep He will place at His right hand and the goats at His left.” Matthew 25:33

“My sheep listen to my voice, I recognise them, they follow Me, and I will give them eternal life.” John 10:27

OPEN HANDS

An open heart and open hand

Is accommodating and sweet;

It invites and emanates much warmth

And brings much needed relief.

A hand that stretches out with kindness

Is one that’s always blessed;

It cares about the needs of others

And sincerely wants their best.

But a heart and fist that’s tightly shut

Will hamper any flow;

Enclosed with stagnant waters

Unable to bestow.

Many times we clench our fists

And shake them to God Almighty,

When our carnal desires aren’t satisfied

Or when we take His grace so lightly.

A fist that’s clenched represents a heart

That’s bruised and battered within;

A heart perhaps filled with unforgiveness

And deceived by various sins.

An open hand that stretches wide

Is giving with compassion;

It restores love and dignity

And exerts much grace and passion.

Jesus stretched out His hands

And was nailed to the cross;

The most open hands in the history of man

So His sheep will not be lost.

We thank God for open hands and hearts

That make a difference in our lives;

With a gentle touch and faithful gesture

When true love is not disguised.

(C) P.B. 2019

“And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.” Luke 24:45

“Stretch out Your hand from above; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters.” Psalm 144:7

“Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations…” Luke 24:46-47

I LOVE YOU

It’s the words we yearn to hear

From a sincere loyal heart;

It’s an affection we cannot measure

It’s a pure work of art.

It’s the noblest of emotions

And most higher than any other;

It’s a surrender that exerts passion

And grows deeper once discovered.

Those special words “I Love You”

Ignites a warmth within our soul;

It’s a reminder of what’s important

And where our focus should be, behold!

“I Love You” is God’s trademark

His signature upon our heart,

As we’re created with a purpose

To be blessed and set apart.

Love will never ever fail

As it’s eternal and everlasting;

It covers a multitude of sins

With much peace and joy it brings.

When Jesus Christ was crucified

The sacred “I Love You”

Flowed with every drop of blood

To forgive all we say and do.

His unconditional love is rare

That required a sacrifice,

To provide salvation for our soul

As He paid a heavy price

All glory and all honour

To the most loving One of all;

Who redeems, restores and heals us

When our name He lovingly calls.

(C) P.B. 2019

“God is love and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4:16

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not speak its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

THE VOID

Life is beautiful indeed

And we’re filled with many blessings;

We have loved ones that care for us

And much joy in life this brings.

We may be surrounded by beauty

And our pursuits may be successful;

We may have our bosom of children

And our agendas may be fruitful.

Our vocation may lend a helping hand

And our career is satisfying,

But behind the scenes there may be turmoil

With hidden pain and endless strivings.

There will always exist a certain void

That’s deep inside our soul;

One that God Almighty can only fill

To heal that gaping hole.

Since we’re created to love and acknowledge Him

In a relational type of way;

Free from any man-made ideologies

And the selfish ways we crave.

A God-shaped hole will always exist

And comes with the manufacture,

But the warranty will always ensure

It fixes all the faults and fractures.

Only God can give us true peace and joy

With a depth that we all crave;

He will heal all our broken parts

And our precious soul He saves.

Regardless of our lot in life

One thing we can be sure,

That our creator seals the hole within

As we’re complete and truly adored.

(C) P.B. 2019

‘but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18

“He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.” Ephesians 4:10

NO MORE TEARS

There are no more tears in heaven

But a joyful expectation,

When we’re finally complete and whole

And rewarded for our patience.

To those appointed for eternal life

God shall wipe away all tears;

No more sorrow and no more hunger pains

No more trauma or any fears.

All the former things will pass away

As death will be finally swallowed,

Since eternal life has been promised

By the Saviour that we have followed.

No more tears will ever be shed

As forgiveness is guaranteed,

Through the shedding of blood upon the cross

Through Christ’s sacrifice indeed.

But those who reject God’s greatest gift

Will have no excuse whatsoever,

And the tears will flow for eternity

Everlasting and forever…

Every tear has been bottled

And our every pain recorded,

But when we overcome by God’s grace

We will certainly be rewarded.

We all suffer in many different ways

But gold can only be refined,

When it’s placed in the furnace

So it will leave the dross behind.

Let’s rejoice in the final victory

When all tears are left behind;

Leaving a trail and a legacy

Of a strength where God is defined.

(C) P.B. 2019

“And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain for the former things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:4

THE GREATEST GIFT

Gifts are filled with surprises

All wrapped as a single delight,

With a love expressed from the giver

And a joy in the recipient’s sight.

Gifts are always pleasant

When they’re bestowed from the heart,

With a sincere kiss and the best of wishes

They’re a wonderful work of art.

But the greatest gifts cannot be bought

As no monetary value exists;

They’re comprised of family and friends

When their warmth is total bliss.

The greatest of gifts are always free

When they’re filled with kindness and love;

When we sacrifice our effort and time

As an extension of God’s hand above.

God showers us with His blessings

And keeps all of His promises;

The gifts He gives are priceless indeed

As He extends His very best.

The greatest gift given to mankind

Was free but most valuable,

With a worth extending into eternity

When our name God calls.

God’s gift was precious and rare indeed

And delivered as Jesus Christ;

The most expensive presence the world could receive

But all that would suffice.

The noblest of gifts He was indeed

When He unwraps the sin from our soul,

To fill us with His pure Spirit…

The greatest gift we could ever unfold!

(C) P.B. 2019

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8

BEAUTIFUL

He makes all things beautiful

In His appointed time;

He renews, restores and replenishes

And hearts He will refine.

He is the master craftsman

The universe’s architect;

He’s in full and total control indeed

And His plan is always best.

We may question whether He does exist

With all we’re surrounded with;

The depravity and the depths of evil

Is He real or just a myth?

But when He calls and draws us near

We discover He is true;

He lifts us from the miry clay

And makes everything beautifully new.

And when we see many lives transformed

It’s a living testimony,

Of how His love and precious grace

Has made the spiritually blind to see.

He has so many riches in store

To bless us all spiritually;

An abundance of beauty for His glory

To be all we’re created to be.

He’s the only God and He’s so beautiful

So pure, holy and true;

Who sacrificed His only Son

To spend eternity with me and you.

(C) P.B. 2019

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek; That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty of the Lord.” Psalm 27:4

“Out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock.” Psalm 40:2

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him…He also will hear their cry and save them.” Psalm 145:18-19

OUR PASSPORT

When we enter a foreign country

There is a necessity;

It is mandatory and it’s a requirement

It’s our passport that sets us free.

It’s an admission to a particular place

And it’s an official document;

It certifies our identity

And our citizenship cements.

How do we expect heaven to enter

Without the legal requirement,

The official stamp upon our heart

And the seal that’s heaven sent?

God does not accept visas

As they’re a temporary admission;

They smell like a passport but ain’t indeed

As they have a different mission.

Jesus made enormous claims

Of being the only way;

The truth, the life and access to the Father

With a heavy price He paid.

Is Jesus our passport or just a visa?

We need to challenge ourselves,

As the road is long and narrow indeed

Where very few saints do dwell.

Our true passport to success

Is only found through Christ,

And when our soul departs from our flesh

His covering will suffice.

So before we take our final trip

To our eternal destination…

Let’s ensure our passport is valid and stamped

To be sure without hesitation.
