It really will not matter
At the end of the day,
Whether we were rich or poor
But rather whether we were saved.
It really will not matter
Whether we were religious or pious too,
Because unless Jesus was our Savior
Our faith simply was not true.
It really will not matter
Whether fame or success,
Was our necklace and our rear guard
Since only God’s plan was for our best.
Because only He could turn our tragedies
Into meaningful testimonies,
When we trusted Him with all our heart
So deliverance we’d see.
It really will not matter
Whether head knowledge was our crown,
Because the many lies and deceptions
With arrogance had kept us bound.
Because if we strived to impress
And to appear intelligent as well,
There would have been a void inside our soul
Where insecurities did dwell.
It was the kindness and the gentleness
That people craved to see,
With the humble spirit that came from God
That truly set us free.
And it really will not matter
Whether externally all looked fine,
Because when we stood to give account…
Reality was defined.
It really will not matter
Whether the compliments did flow,
Because God saw the insincerity
And the depths of hearts only He knows.
And it really will not matter
Whether we were respected in people’s eyes,
Because our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Was actually despised.
But what will really matter
Is whether God’s saving love and grace,
Was our covering through Jesus Christ
When we see Him face to face.
