‘IF’ IS THE LONGEST WORD

Many words do make an impact

As their meaning is so deep,

But some are very humble

Although a harvest they can reap.

The ‘longest’ word in the bible

Is the shortest in its text,

But it makes a world of difference

When it’s put into effect.

The word referred to here

Is the simple two lettered “IF”

It has power to differentiate

And the wheat from tares will sift.

IF we then being evil

Give good gifts at our whim,

How much more will our Father

Give the Holy Spirit who asks Him?

IF anyone desires

To be a follower of Christ;

He must first deny himself

Take up the cross and fight the fight.

IF we gain the entire world

But we lose our precious soul,

What profit will it be

When eternity unfolds?

IF God so clothes the grass

Which perishes so quick,

How much more will our needs be met

If we’re humble and are meek?

IF God is our Father

We would naturally love the Lord,

And abide in His precious word

Understanding we are adored.

IF is the ‘longest’ word

Since it comes with a condition,

And IF it’s obeyed the difference will mean

Either heaven or perdition.

Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord”

Will enter the heavenly kingdom…

But IF we continue to overcome

We have God’s grace, mercy and freedom.
