WHAT’S THE POINT?

What would be the point

If it’s the end when we die?

Since there would be no plan or purpose

And technically one big lie!

What would be the point

When we toil and we labor,

To sweat to make a living

If we’re merely just a vapour?

What is the point

Of all the joy and all our laughter;

When it’s a speck of dust in eternity

If there’s no ever-after?

What would be the point

To acquire knowledge and success,

Making every type of sacrifice

So our family has the best?

We don’t have all the answers

But one thing is for sure;

That there’s blessings and there’s curses

It’s a fact we can’t ignore.

Let’s get to the point

As to why we do exist,

To examine from God’s perspective

To ensure nothing is missed…

We’re created for a purpose

Through God’s love with a plan;

And although we suffer in different ways

It’s in His sovereign will and hand.

He gave us our sweet Jesus

So we’re reconciled to Him,

Through the sacrifice on the cross

So our soul is cleansed within.

He wants to write our story

As His pencil makes a point,

To point us to His loving Son

The One He did anoint.

The point of the matter

Is that eternal life is real;

And earth is a dressing room for eternity

Before forever is revealed.

There’s no point in rejecting God

And gambling with eternity,

Since His loving grace and mercy

Is what our soul desires to see.

“..whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame – who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”  Philippians 3:19-20

“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.  But now Christ is risen from the dead..”  1 Corinthians 15:19-20

“The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.”  1 Corinthians 15:26

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”  Jeremiah 29:11-13

SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS

They are humbly hidden from our sight

But are authentic and they’re true;

All spiritual blessings bestowed from above

As they’re combined with mercy too.

It’s when we’re adopted by our Heavenly Father

When we receive Jesus as Savior,

As His loving arms extend to us

When we accept His love and favour.

It’s His righteousness we begin to see

As old patterns of behaviour,

No longer have a stronghold

When Christ is Lord and Savior.

It’s His grace that we adopt

And His wrath no longer remains;

As we’re forgiven from all trespasses

And our lives are no longer the same.

It’s the hidden beauty of a heart

That desires others to be blessed,

It’s to have sincere intentions

Where love and joy will manifest.

It’s the sweetest of the fellowship

With God and His people too;

Who share a similar mission and a vision

To see souls saved through and through.

It’s an inheritance and a promise

Of eternal life indeed,

As we’re cleansed and we’re redeemed

Where many blessings we do see.

But the most important of them all

Is when the Holy Spirit sits;

In our spirit to confirm and stamp

We’re no longer destined for the pit.

The worldly standards are judged by sight

By achievements and success,

But God’s richest blessings are manifested

In those who humbly want God’s best.

Spiritual blessings are rich indeed

And although they’re behind the scenes,

They’re the most precious we could ever attain

Where by God they can be seen.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out ‘Abba, Father.’  The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”  Romans 8:14-16

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”  Romans 8:28

“Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.  And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”  Romans 8:9-10

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”  2 Corinthians 3:17

“By this we know that we abide in Him, and Him in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.”  1 John 4:13

JESUS -v- MAN-MADE RELIGION

It’s a controversial topic

And forever it will be…

But when the Holy Spirit dwells within

From man-made religion we’re set free.

Our culture usually determines

The religion to which we adhere;

Along with the morals we are taught

And in our heart hold dear.

But when we’re led by God

We’re not bound by regulations,

Nor by rules or the law

And freed from heavy expectations.

His yoke is easy and is light

Because He’s the One who guides;

He reveals His righteous ways indeed

So we can walk in the light.

Man-made religion produces guilt

Whereby God’s ways do liberate,

They set us free from bondage

From all fear, guilt and hate.

Because a heavy price was paid

When Jesus hung on the cross;

So the eyes of our soul can open indeed

And reveal the lies embossed.

Jesus rebuked those Pharisees

Who imposed heavy burdens and traditions,

Because they promoted hypocrisy and fear as well

Not from God’s word but their man-made religion.

But Nicodemus was a Pharisee

Who honoured the teachings of Christ;

He had a revelation

That the new spiritual birth does suffice.

When true religion is biblical

It’s God’s heart we manifest,

To protect the orphan and the widow

And to do for them what’s best.

It’s to not conduct out of obligation

Or because we know it’s right;

But to sincerely provide and to assist

And to do so with delight.

When people prefer to believe the lie

That God and man-made religion are one,

An excuse can manifest in their soul

To justify rejecting His Son.

God is pure and sets us free

So joy can manifest within,

With a freedom that’s righteous and led by truth

When we’re forgiven for all our sin.

“For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move with one of their fingers.  But all their works they do to be seen by men.”  Matthew 23:4-5

“Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations…according to the commandments and doctrines of men?  These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility..”  Colossians 2:20-23

“There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus…Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’” John 3:1-3

LOVINGKINDNESS

It’s an endless stream of affection

With a love that cannot change;

It is steadfast and it’s faithful

Where mercy and goodness will remain.

It’s a covenant of loyalty

Where its limit knows no end;

It is undeserved as we receive

His favour that He sends.

As the Father loves the Son

Jesus loves us dearly too,

With a lovingkindness that’s pure and sweet

And never dependent on what we do.

His lovingkindness is immeasurable

It is generous and from the heart;

With a goodness and a faithfulness

That will forever last.

When kindness, mercy and goodness

Become one when they do blend,

There’s a steadfast hope amidst our trials

Where broken hearts will mend.

God’s lovingkindness is unique

A rare quality indeed;

Which He deposits in our soul

So we can produce good seed.

It’s the icing on the cake

When love and kindness kiss…

It produces the extraordinary

To promote a life of bliss.

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”  John 15:9-10

GRACE AND MERCY

It’s only by grace we are saved

By His tender loving mercy;

The riches of His wonderful love

Through Christ who is pure and worthy.

He makes us alive

As we awaken from spiritual slumber;

Whilst dead in sins and trespasses

In ways too numerous to number.

We’re mainly unaware of our conduct

And our need for a Savior,

Whilst we conduct ourselves in our lusts

And all our fleshly of behaviours.

But His grace and mercy touches us

In ways too deep to understand,

As we’re cleansed and redeemed

And rescued by His sovereign hand.

The riches of His grace

Are revealed to us through faith;

And His exceeding kindness is extended

To ensure we finish the race.

The wealth of His grace and mercy

Exceeds any form of treasure,

Since the beauty that’s poured from His heart

Cannot be understood nor measured.

But the evidence of His grace

Is seen when we’re made alive;

When we were once dead in trespasses

But now we see the light.

His mercy we cannot comprehend

It’s too marvellous indeed,

But the mere fact He rescues us

Reveals His love to intercede.

It’s by grace through faith that we’re saved

And by trusting in Jesus Christ;

Who shed His blood to give us eternal life

A sacrifice precious in God’s sight.

MERCY

O Lord have mercy on our souls

And forgive us all our sins;

According to Your lovingkindness

And cleanse our soul within.

As we acknowledge our trespasses

You are faithful to forgive,

Since against You, and only You we’ve sinned

But repent so we may live.

With Your mercy and Your pardon

You purge with hyssop to make us clean;

As You wash us to be white as snow

To restore us and to redeem.

Deliver us from bloodshed

Since we all nailed Jesus to the cross;

When our iniquities they reached Your eyes

Whilst on our heart they were embossed.

Restore the joy of Your salvation

And from Your presence do not cast,

And kindly blot out our transgressions

And create a clean heart we do ask.

Forgive us dear Lord and Father

As from Your glory we fall short;

And regenerate and give us strength

And all our sins abort.

As Your gentle heart forgives us

And You extend Your loving hand,

We’re forgiven when we humbly repent

Knowing it’s Your mandatory command.

FOUNDATIONS

A foundation provides the groundwork

So the load of a structure sits;

And when it’s solid and it’s steadfast

There’s much safety in our midst.

A moral foundation is paramount

Of a way of life or belief,

If there’s to be stability, order and respect

Where kindness and love will meet.

A foundation is an anchor

And cemented with solid trust;

And if anything is to stand and remain

A good foundation is a must.

When Jesus Christ is our foundation

Where our hope and faith is laid;

It’s a surety with clarity

And where wise decisions are made.

He’s the anchor of our soul

But will lift our every burden,

Whilst building on our foundation

With a faith and love that’s certain.

Because the wisdom of this world

Is foolishness to the Lord;

Since it may be self-gratifying

And not according to His word.

Jesus is our foundation

And if we build on anything less,

It will not stand the test of time

And will ultimately fail the test.

A good moral foundation is imperative

If it’s to bear the heavy load;

With the winds, storms and elements

since it reaps what it has sowed.

God cannot be mocked

As our work will be revealed by fire,

And as to whether our foundation was in Christ

Or built on the sand of our desires.

“..having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”  Ephesians 2:20-22

SHEER BRILLIANCE

The stars they spell Your name

And the galaxies reveal Your glory;

All creation sings Your praises

As they reveal a meaningful story.

You are majestic in word and deed

And none can compare to You,

Your masterpieces are sheer brilliance

With an unparalleled beauty too.

Our DNA stems to the moon and back

A miracle You have made…

Your brilliant heart, mind and touch

Remains forever and never fades.

Your sheer brilliance reveals Your heart

And we can never comprehend;

The workings of Your brilliant mind

With all miracles that You send.

You are unique and inspirational

The creator of the entire universe,

Your bond of perfection is love

And Your goodness You disperse.

There’s no darkness or evil in You

As Your light highlights our path;

You instil love, goodness and kindness

Into those You set apart.

Your deeds are majestic indeed

With a heartbeat in every frame,

All features working in harmony

So Your glory will always remain.

Sheer brilliance is an understatement

As words cannot express Your glory;

It is too majestic to understand

As You unfold Your timeless story.

Your gentle hand rescues us

From the miry clay,

When our Savior reconciles us to You

With the sacrifice that was made.

Jesus is our Lord and Savior

Pure, sinless and true,

As Your story of hope and redemption unfolded

Revealing sheer brilliance in all You do.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

Quality will last

And will endure throughout time,

But the vast amount of quantities

Leave timeless beauty behind.

The quality of a friendship

Is tested through tests and trials;

Where pain and struggles we overcome

And not only through joy and smiles.

There’s no point in quantity

When the motive is to lead astray,

It’s best to enjoy the quality

Of a sincere friendship that remains.

God sees the quality

Of those who can make a difference,

Who are bold, unashamed and who love the Lord

Who don’t look out only for their interests.

The quality of one’s character

Is revealed through one’s fruit;

As to whether the tree is good or bad

And all dependent upon its roots.

False prophets have many followers

But Jesus had only twelve,

Because the gate of truth is narrow indeed

Where few saints choose to dwell.

The quantities love every false way

Because it suits the fallen nature,

But the quality of one’s character

Remains tall and strong in stature.

Quality always trumps quantity

Because the innate nature of same,

Is crafted with care and a loving touch

So its fullness will remain.

The quality of Christ’s disciples

Actually turned the world around;

Who were once afraid and denied the Lord

But where a renewed boldness was found.

Because the Spirit of God gives liberally

And deposits quality within,

So the strength that remains is from God and not us

So many souls the disciples will win.

“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”  Philippians 2:4

I’M SORRY

They are words that require humility

But they’re powerful words indeed…

The simple ‘I’m sorry’ when they’re expressed from the heart

Will allow forgiveness to intercede.

Because whey they’re genuine and sincere

Much needed healing can take place;

When those words they resonate in one’s soul

Recognising there’s issues to face.

‘I’m sorry’ are words that will restore

Realising that one has transgressed,

And has offended or deeply hurt someone

When from the heart they’re expressed.

‘I’m sorry’ are words we yearn to hear

When boundaries are crossed;

When disrespectful and hateful comments

Our friendships they can cost.

‘I’m sorry’ are powerful words

And although the offence we may not forget,

It allows us to heal and to move on

Where we forgive and have no regrets.

We’ve all offended a holy God

And those words He yearns to hear;

As we express remorse to our Heavenly Father

Having offended the One so dear.

But God promises to forget our sins

When we repent from a sincere heart,

He casts them all behind His back

When we commence a refreshing start.

We should all have remorse

For nailing Jesus to the cross,

As we all have sinned and fall short of God’s grace

And for our soul He paid the cost.

When we’re deeply sorry for our transgressions

There’s a freedom that we acquire;

As we’re reconciled to God and realise

That Christ’s sacrifice was required.
